Why are we suggesting wearing a mask at Embrun Medical Imaging?

1. The vaccines do not provide 100% protection. Although the vaccines are incredibly effective, they only offer 94% to 95% protection. There’s no way to tell who the 5% will be who don’t respond to the vaccine and will still be at risk for COVID-19.
2. Those who have been vaccinated might be asymptomatic spreaders. The vaccines prevent illness, but more research is needed to determine if the vaccines also prevent transmission. Experts are concerned that vaccinated people can still become infected without symptoms and then spread it to others who have not been vaccinated yet.
3. Protecting those with compromised immune systems and those who can’t be vaccinated. As a health care facility, we serve many individuals in our community who are immunocompromised who may or may not be able to be vaccinated. It is important to work together to protect these individuals who are at risk of developing a severe case of COVID-19.
4. Protecting our health-care workers. The protection of our staff is of the utmost importance. Without staff to work, we are unable to provide care to our patients in a timely manner.
5. The vaccine is not an automatic off switch for the pandemic. As much as we’d all like to hope that the vaccine means an instant return to normal – it’s not. But we are on the right track.

In order to maintain minimal traffic in our clinic and to reduce exposure to potential illness, we ask that you attend your appointment alone when possible. If you require assistance, accommodations can be made during the appointment booking, and anyone attending with you will need to be pre-screened also.

You do not need to wait outside or call upon arrival. To reduce traffic in the waiting room, we do ask that you not arrive more than 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time.

If any of the following apply to you, we kindly ask that you reschedule your appointment.

Our reception team will assist you in determining when it is safe to attend your appointment:

1. Have you traveled outside Canada in the past 14 days? 
2. Have you tested positive for COVID-19? 
3. Have you had close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19? 
4. Do you have any of the following symptoms: 
   • Fever 
   • New or worsening chronic cough 
   • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing 
   • Sore throat 
   • Difficulty swallowing 
   • Decrease or loss of taste or smell 
   • Chills 
   • Headaches 
   • Unexplained fatigue or aches 
   • New or unexplained nausea/vomiting/diarrhea/abdominal pain 
   • Pink eye 
   • Runny nose or nasal congestion 

              If over the age of 70: 

• Delirium 
• Unexplained falls 
• Acute functional decline 
• Worsening of chronic conditions.
